This is one of my favourite images, of all. It gives a snapshot in time of a scene, so typical of the old homes of Ennis. It could be any familys home in Turnpike, Borheen or small laneways. It is, in fact, the Pickford family of Drumbiggle, just before they were moved out and the house demolished. Mr Pickford had lived all of his 75 years here, the house was 90 years in the family. It had a quarter acre garden, in tough times producing food for the table. They loved their little home and did not particularly want to go but the clearance needed to progress. To me this is like going back in a time machiene to the Ennis of old, call me sentimental, if you like, but I think we threw out the baby with the bathwater, on a few occasions.
