This is one of my personal favorite reviews of Gone Girl; GONE GIRL not only asks if Ben Affleck is responsible for making his complicated wife disappear, but poses deeper questions about marriage in the modern age. The movie is long because screenwriter Gillian Flynn retains every juicy plot twist from her best-selling page turner, yet the mysterys layers shed so fast theres no time to grow bored. (If anything, the ending needed more time to fully justify itself). Director David Fincher can always be counted on for technical perfection, even when his thrillers often underwhelm or strain credibility. This one ups its game (and THE GAME) by offering the kind of cultural critique found in his greatest films - indicting the reckless Twitterverse for consuming tragedy as entertainment and proclaiming criminals as hastily as they would American Idols. The entire cast is solid, but Rosamund Pike deserves special praise for inhabiting a character whos motives are nearly impossible to believe on the page. RECOMMEND - Stu of vanganzamedia
