This is one of several boats that was driven ashore by Typhoon Haiyan (or Yolanda as it’s called locally) in the Philippine city of Tacloban. The area behind it has been declared a no build zone where government will not provide services because it is too dangerous for people to live. Yet this is where peoples communities and livelihoods are, so youll see thousands of houses being rebuilt out of scraps along the coast. GlobalGiving staff members Alison Carlman and Britt Lake are here meeting with local organizations that are still here helping communities recover and become more resilient nearly a year later, just as typhoon season begins again. See more photos and video from their trip via the #GGInTheField hashtag on Instagram.
