This is one of the largest locomotives ever built, there were originally 25 but now there are 8 with this one (no. 4014) being in the best condition. Union Pacific has re-aquired the engine and it will be undergoing an extensive and expensive rebuild which will take approx 5 years and will be switched over from coal-fired to oil-fired. According to Union Pacific the engines original pricetag was $848,000 but is now considered priceless. Up until this week it was on display at a California rail museum.
