This is one of the significant deterrents to becoming a registered charity. It would seem that the designation of charitable status is regulated such that organizations can go about doing good as long as it is focused on picking up the odd piece of a broken system, thereby helping those actively engaged in breaking it sleep at night. But dont be getting any crazy ideas about actively seeking systemic change that might actually decrease the suffering of those we are trying to help (the animals, people living in poverty, the environment). And if your activities could in any way interfere with profits of Big Ag, Oil & Gas, Big Pharma, etc., well then you just promoted your organization to the designation of terrorist threat. There is something very wrong with this system. I understand the need for making sure that charitable organizations are legitimate and not misappropriating funds, but what is the point if you cant try and bring the change needed to make this a better country and world?
