This is one of those things that is so very wrong with this country. Why do we feel the need to stereotype people and groups in such negative light just to make ourselves feel better? Both of my children, my wife and I are all registered republicans. My daughter has a heart of gold, volunteering at our church helping with the younger kids and whatever else needs to be done. Probably 20% of the photographs in the 2014 BV yearbook she took. For that she received minimal recognition. One of her classmates mom had cancer so every day that she was able, she gave that friend a ride home from school so she could get home to help with the chores around the house - she was the oldest and helped as much as she could so getting home a little quicker helped immensely. My son is 22 and we often get compliments on how respectful he is towards others. When he worked at a pet store in Rapid City, the owner was pleasantly surprised at his use of please and thank yous and that he always carried the pet food out to the vehicle (learned that from his republican dad). At his current job he is one of the younger employees and not married so he often takes the on call so others can be with their families without being interrupted. If you have ever been to a function that my wife happens to be, you know she is one of the last ones there helping clean up and putting things away. At work if someone calls in sick or needs to trade days, she is one of the first people the call to ask if she can help cover a shift and far more often than not she can and does. We give to several charities both personally and through our business. While I can be an ass at times, I treat most everyone with the courtesy and respect they deserve. Our cats have all been rescue cats and frequently I deliver pet food to the various pet rescues. I have forgiven rents to tenants, given one a job and helped several others find a job. I could go on and on. I am a republican. I often criticize democrats and liberals but most often other republicans for their policies and tactics but not personally as does this cartoon. Perhaps we should find ways to come together, not tear each other down.
