This is only for fellow R/BSers. Others can skip. I posted the following to the List, but was rejected, since they are trying to maintain a no-personal-posts-regarding-current-issues (?!) policy. Ok. Simcha suggested I post it on Facebook: While tempers run very high and we are all worked up about local problems, as they touch our fundamental belief-systems, I am pleading that we dont hurt innocent people along the way. A local tzaddik, whose profound kindness and Ahavat Yisrael I can testify to, as can other families in Bet Shemesh whom hes helped, is hurting badly from the animosity that is directed at him, as a result of the local mess were in. And when my friend hurts, it hurts me. For the record, his ideology and religious orientation are very different from mine and I do not agree with his hashkafa, nor his politics, but it was always possible to conduct our disagreements kindly, with respect. Please, lets stick to the issues, to the important clarification process and religious-framing issues were all involved with, to the legal proceedings, even to protests, but let us not personally hurt fellow Jews, who are doing their own thing to help and ease and lighten other peoples lives and are deserving of our Ahavat Yisrael. לחבריי בבית שמש מרגישה צורך לכתוב את הדברים הבאים. כיוונתי ושלחתי אותם לליסט המקומי, אך הם נדחו שם בטענה שהליסט מנסה לשמור על עקביות במדיניות ההימנעות מפרסום הודעות אישיות הנוגעות למצב הנוכחי בבית שמש (?!). אני מקבלת את הדין אבל מבקשת להעלות את הנקודה הבאה: צדיק מקומי, שרובכם מכירים, פגוע מאד מיחס הקהילה אליו בימים האחרונים. אני יכולה להעיד, אישית, על טוב לבו ועל תמיכתו, נדיבותו וגמילות החסדים שהוא גומל לאנשים הזקוקים לעזרה ולסיוע. מסתבר שבעקבות אירועי ימים אלה והתלהטות הרוחות של כולנו, אנשים מסוימים מפנים כלפיו כעס ועוינות שאינם ראויים. גילוי נאות: המקום הדתי שהוא נמצא בו והאידיאולוגיה שלו רחוקים מאד מאלה שלי. יש בינינו חילוקי דעות יסודיים. אבל הוא חבר טוב והוא כאוב, וזה כואב לי. אני די בטוחה שאיש/אשה מהקוראים דברים אלה אינם בָּפוגעים. ובכז, אני רק רוצה להאיר את הפנס לכיוון הזה ולבקש מכולנו להיות זהירים בדרכנו, שנשתדל לא לפגוע בחפים מפשע, שכל השחיתות והניוול שאנו מגלים עכשיו בעירנו, אינם באשמתם. הם זכאים לכבוד ולהתייחסות ראויה ככל אדם שלא פשע ולא פגע. גמרתי לנאום. תודה
