This is our first of many featured artists from our upcoming Open Studios show: Janell Mithani Janell grew up in a small rural town in the northwestern United States, the youngest in a family who loved gardening, music and the outdoors. As a teen she sold her violin to buy her first camera and took painting lessons from a local artist. After receiving a Bachelor’s in Art from Southern Oregon State College, Janell re-located to Los Angeles with a national photography company. Shortly after she arrived in California, she met her husband and they have made their home with their daughter, cat and turtle at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. She operated a fine art portrait studio for 25 years, closing it in 2011 to dedicate her time to painting and creating artisan jewelry.
