This is probably going to offend a lot of people, but just by being a member of several horse debate groups on Facebook makes me realize: several types of horse people are quick to judge others. Often times it is on what is classified as good riding style, abusive training, proper care and the list goes on. Sure, there are instances where it is a no brainer across the board, but I think that people tend to forget that we are all in different stages in our horse lifestyle- from experienced to novice. Sometimes, we may think that we are helping, but we are only making maters worse by coming across as negative. Other times, only kind words can go so far. Sometimes we look to the help of our peers (even those just online) before seeking the help of someone qualified in the field. Other times, that qualified person isnt so qualified. Horses arent a requirement any more in life because we dont need them for labor or transportation (for the most part). Its our duty to encourage people to stick with the lifestyle of generations past because now there are too many other venues for entertainment, leisure, and recreation. I guess my main point is, when has it been taken so far to the point where we are pointing fingers at each other and calling people names simply because we dont agree with what they think about horses or do with their horses? On the other hand, to state that one is a professional they should be well versed in people sense and not just horse sense. Everyone should be encouraged to continue learning, even the most experienced horseman still has something to learn. But where knowledge ends, frustration begins.
