This is scary. Have you ever been falsely accused and had the police show up at your door. Then, even though you were never guilty of the accusation, never charged, never arrested, never taken to court, never spent an hour or minute in jail... that accusation can be revealed without explanation to potential employers, to foreign border officials, to anyone who has access or requests a report such as a CPIC. This is not just invasion of your privacy. It can be highly damaging to your life and reputation. Thanks a lot, Mr. Harper! Some police forces are sharing damaging non-conviction records — ranging from unproven allegations, withdrawn charges and mental health calls to 911.
