This is scary news. Its also maddening when considering the regulations that either dont allow small scale producers to process their own meat for sale or make it very difficult for them to depending on which state youre in. With federal funding being cut it looks like the USDA can no longer afford to favor large-scale corporate food production without putting the public at even greater risk. Even the facade of safety that the USDA uses to justify industrial food production will go out the window if corporate deregulation continues this path.
