Particulars of deaths and bodily injuries sustained by the police from bushranging, from the time of Peisleys depredations, March, 1862, to June, 1870. The particulars are given under the following heads: Date of casualty; name and rank of the police; whether killed, wounded or how injured; particular duty or occasion; known or supposed offenders; additional remarks; and district. • April 14, 1862.-Detective Lyons, gunshot wound in hand; escorting prisoners from Forbes to Young; Gardiners mate, Davis; Davis captured; south-eastern. • June 15, 1862.- Sergeant Condell, wounded; Gold- escort robbery; western. • June 15, 1862.- Senior-constable Moran, wounded; Gold-escort robbery; western. • November 10, 1862.- Constable Thomas Rayfield, pistol-shot in side; arresting bushranger at Walget; Little Jemmy; recovered; north western. • June 8, 1863.- Senior-constable Hughes, gunshot wound in arm; shot fired from ambush; un- known; south-eastern. • August 6, 1803.- Senior-constable Sutton, wounded by Gilbert ; attempted robbery of Carcoar mail; Gilbert and party; western. • August 29, 1863.- Senior-sergeant Stephenson, gun- shot wounds in hands and leg; encounter with Lowry; shot dead; south-eastern. • September 4, 1863. – Senior-constable Haughey, gunshot wounds in knee; encounter with bush- rangers at Demondrille Creek; Halls gang; south-eastern. • June 24, 1804.- Sergeant D. R. Herbert, killed; shot by a police, mistaken for a bush- ranger ; on duty near Canowindra; western. • May 13, 1865.--Constable King, gunshot wound in ankle; encounter with Gilbert and Dunn, at Binalong ; Gilberts gang; Gilbert shot dead; south-eastern. • December 10, 1865.-Senior-constable W. Lang, pistol shot in arm; attempting arrest of Carroll, mail robber; Wards gang; recovered ; north western. • December 16, 1865.- Constable. MHale, wounded by Dunn; effecting Dunns arrest; Dunn captured; western. • February, 1866.-Senior-constable Ward, killed by bushranger (Chinaman); on duty in pursuit of bushrangers; western. • April, 1866.-Constable Miles OGrady, killed; shot dead by Clarkes gang; on duty at Nerrigundah; Fletcher shot; southern. • April, 1866.-Constable Raymond killed; shot by convict Crookwell; prisoners escort near Bargo: Crookwell executed; eastern. • April 27, 1866.-Constable Walsh, gunshot wound; capture of the outlaws Clarke; John and Thomas Clarke executed; southern. • April 27, 1866.-Tracker Sir Watkin Wynn, severe gunshot wound ; capture of the outlaws Clarke ; John and Thomas Clarke; arm amputated; southern. • December, 1867.-- Senior-constable MNamara, wounded in wrist ; capture of Brookman, alias Russell: south-western. • April 7, 1868.-Senior-constable Hugh Campbell, died from injuries received from a fall from his horse in pursuit of offender Johnson; western. • October 6, 1868.-Senior-constable John MCabe, mortally wounded by gunshot; attempting arrest of Rutherford,; died 1st November following; north-western.
