This is something I have always question: Why cant they built a black box nearer to the exterior of the plane, say for example at the tail end. (where it usually stays intact) And when there is an impact, it automatically ejects / deploys itself, much like an air bag in a car, then float on the surface and release a signal and dye for easy location? I mean, air bags that deploy in a few micro seconds are in all cars, some with 4. So the technology exist. And even the simplest smart phone these days have kick as GPS that tells you exactly where you are. So why must they alway put the black box so deep inside a plane that makes it so difficult to locate and extract and armed them only with a weak beacon that is so damn difficult to locate? Sure, I know all crashes are different and it may not always work, but surely it would at least give it a much better chance of location. Even if it crashed on the ground, at least it might have ejected and got stuck on a tree than burn in the wreckage right? And if they designed a clever air bag system like the ones on the Mars landing craft, it might even survive unscratched!… Just my 2 cents worth… Anyone wanna co-invent this with me?!? LOL
