This is something I just posted in response to a friends reaction to criticism of the Ice Bucket Challenge The people who criticize the ice bucket craze over the cost/volume of water used have their heads up their ass!! Even in the most drought stricken areas of the USA water is NOT that scarce nor the electricity ton turn it into ice that expensive. HOWEVER!!! I do have a problem with many (almost all) of the ice bucket videos Ive seen! If this is being done to raise awareness of ALS - GIVEN SOME info about ALS./Lou Gehrigs Disease! How about a link to one of several ALS organizations? How about some details of what ALS is? How about a link to the National Institute of Health page on ALS? How about info on how and where to donate? Aside from that, theres also the issue of if you dont accept you have to donate????? No one has sent a challenge my way. But if anyone does, it will be IGNORED!!! Im retired and have limited income. I already donate to worthy causes that strike closer to home! And for all of my gay friends here on Facebook, they should think the same!!! If you are going to do this, how about for an AIDS/HIV research or support organization? For my friends on Long Island I would recommend Thursdays Child of Long Island.
