This is something that I believe every citizen in the United - TopicsExpress

This is something that I believe every citizen in the United States should watch and understand before choosing to vote. In over 1,000 elections, the candidates were running unopposed, which means they won whether you voted or not. Not to mention the wanton corruption and outright insanity many of our representatives flaunt, combined with effectively submitting whatever ALEC writes as a model bill for their own... Which is just lazy. So if we want to really fix things, we need to address the local level first. But more importantly, we can make it illegal for our representatives to have corporate interests write their bills for them to sign off on. All a part of getting money out of politics. I suggest Wolf-Pac or something similar. Whatever it is that you do, it all comes down to getting hands on and involved on an ongoing basis. What is the point of voting if you never had a choice to begin with? Why vote lesser of two evils at all when given a choice? Seriously... We need to fix the system first before voting becomes worthwhile again. Thats the conversation I would like to foster: How do we, the collective 314 million US citizens, focus together and fix this situation when our representatives refuse to? Take voting off the table for a minute and challenge yourself to come up with better answers. Then come together as a majority and get it done. It starts with a willingness to apply critical thinking and problem solving. Our ability to educate each other and have open discussions to find solutions, then come together to enact them with or without our representatives. Peter C. Bryn Pooky Amsterdam Rainy D Kaine
