This is something that has been on my mind a lot lately so here goes. As producers of barrel races, it is a very tough job. There are long hours hustling added money, getting sponsors, negotiating pens, taking entries, preparing ground, setting up concessions(if need be), staking barrels, lining up workers and tractor drivers, running the books, doing payouts and numerous other duties that we are called upon to handle during the days, weeks, and months preparing for one run or a season of runs. This doesnt include everything because there are too many to mention. As participants, it is easy to criticize the things that go wrong(and believe me this happens) but I would like for us to sit back and realize the efforts of those that are trying to keep the sport we love going and trying to provide lots of places for us to run. Whether it be NBHA, CBRA, RCBR, ABRA, LRCA, PRCA, all of your local playdays and so forth, take a minute and appreciate the hard work and behind the scenes actions that are being done. Support your local associations, this is how they survive. And remember this, we all like to hear things that we can improve on but we also like to hear the things that were done well. We all have to run in the same ground, some at the top of the drag some at the bottom(that is the luck of the draw), it is our choice to enter or not, it is our choice whether to support the club or not so just take a minute and put yourself in our shoes before blasting us on facebook. As a participant and a producer, I am well aware of both sides and the sacrifices made by all on both sides. Rules are rules for a reason. Thanks(off my soapbox now). Hope to see you all soon.
