This is such a beautiful video. Believe it or not, fish really do have the capacity to form relationships with humans. I had the opportunity to experience it first hand. When Gary Harris and I first got together, he had a wonderful old ciculid Oscar whose name happened to be Oscar - creative, huh? As best we could tell, Oscar was around 13-15 years old. He was about 11-12 inches long and almost 2 hands wide. Everyone called him Mr. Grumpy Gills but I always thought he was interesting to watch. He had a friend Koi in his tank with him that was as spastic as Dori from Finding Nemo. So, he had fish company and Dori loved Oscar even if she never liked anyone else. But, I got attached to Oscar, I would talk to him when I fed him. We fed floating food, so he came up to the surface to get his food. I would sometimes hold his food to make him take it from me. He got used to me being there and talking to him. It became a routine. He used to follow me from one end of the tank to the other and when I was in the kitchen, he would follow whatever I did. I got some raw shrimp for a treat for Oscar and decided to see if he would let me do anything other than just take the food out of my hands. He let me stroke the area between his eyes and seemed to like that a lot. After a while of the small touches, he would let me rub his sides and he would roll over as if to say I am ready for my massage! One time as I was walking past his tank, I hear a splash and am suddenly covered with water. I had not stopped and paid attention to Oscar and he tail splashed me. LOL He had his own personality. I became the only one who really took care of Oscar because I loved playing with him so it was a joy to me. He had spent his whole life having no contact with humans because no one really knew you could play with a fish! One cold winter morning in January 2011 Oscar left us. I got up in the morning and noticed he was laying on his side at the bottom of the tank. It was a very dark dreary day and we buried Oscar in our backyard. We now have rose bushes in the place where Oscar lives on. But, if you ever wonder if a fish would be a good pet because you cant play with them, think again. They love to be loved and touched and talked to! =) I miss you Oscar! I think it is time to get a new fish!!!
