This is terrible what happened to one of our brothers in arms at the VA---- Here is his story----- Ozzie Martinez Jr.Veterans PTSD Project July 14 at 3:32pm · . I am a 100% disabled veteran from the Iraq war, i suffer from PTSD. a great organization One Warrior Won, sponsored me and was abel to give me a ptsd service dog. i have had my dog since 2013, he is always by my side... i am used to having problems with private places about service dogs... people dont see to know the law... but what happened to me today should not have happened, i went to the Miami VA hospital for a dental appointment, i was walking with my dog and something caught his attention and i corrected him with his chain (like any police officer would do with his k9 when correcting it) when i did that i was stopped by Deputy Chief of police of the VA hospital and he started questioning me, on why i had to correct my service dog, telling me i had a fake service dog because he says service dogs dont need to be corrected. i told him he was wrong for thinking that.... he then proceeded to ask what services the dog does for me, i told him he is a PTSD service dog, he then proceeded to tell me that the VA does not recognize ptsd service dogs... i am not going to lie i did get mad, i never cursed, but i was mad! out of all the places in the world that last place i thought i would ever have a issue would be at the VA hospital. i was told i was being detained and taken to the Deputy Chiefs office.... i was written a 89.00 dollar citation... per citation: MR MARTINEZ BECAME IRATE AND VERBALLY ABUSIVE WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT HIS DOG, AFTER HE WAS SEEN HANING ON THE DOG.... this is ridiculous the way i was treated... something needs to be done. i am tired of being tried like crap from the Miami VA. please Congresswoman, i need your help... i left there embarrassed, crying and highly stressed, i didnt even get to go to my dental appointment. Veterans need to start getting treated better at the ONLY place there is for us to get Help.... please help me! i am tired of being treated like damaged goods... i gave my time to this country and held my brothers as they died in front of my eyes... this is not the treatment we deserve
