This is text of a speech by Shehbaz Sharif, CM Punjab. I have taken the liberty to give him some suggestions, which are as under: The CM has spoken sincerely. He told that the “monster of terrorism” is a “life threat to our country’s survival”. It has already killed 40,000 people. He has further stated that “this war which is not our war, but has become our war today, is a great threat to our society”. He has also stated that no economic development is possible till this “monster is defeated”. Encouraged by the realism shown by the CM, let me make a few simple suggestions to him: a. Taliban recruit unemployed youth from Punjab, convert them into human bombs to kill innocent civilians. Please stop it. b. Taliban are financed from inside and outside the country. A major part of their funds is however, collected in the seminaries of Punjab. Please block this funding. c. Sectarianism is taught openly in many religious institutions of Punjab. Hate literature is also produced and distributed here. Please block it. d. Finally, Taliban do not exist solely to avenge drones. They have a territorial agenda which they have never hidden. In simple words, they are fighting, God forbid, to conquer Pakistan to impose the kind of governance they had shown in Afghanistan and then in Swat. They were strongest when the Government/APC offered them talks. They responded with a bombings and killing spree. You know the details. Now, after the death of Hakim-Ullah, they are weak and in a disarray, as it is evident from the decline in their bombings. Now, is the time to control them, the way they were controlled in Swat. Further delay under the delusion of talks amounts to providing them another chance to re-strengthen themselves. Please help our brother and leader Nawaz Sharif, to take a decision now. It is a now or never situation. God help you!
