This is that time of the year when secularism takes a vacation ( from its usually half-hearted lousy job) in public elite universities, with departments officially celebrating a festival burdening (or otherwise) the workers/sweepers to draw rangolis outside department buildings and offices, performing unpolluted rituals, anointing doors with sandalwood etc . Cultural violence against minorities is normalized and celebrated in these bastions of Indian pride to such an extent that many of us dont see a problem in it.
