This is the 14th consecutive year of the Newcastle Emerging Artist Prize (Exhibition dates: 14 - 28 Sept 2014) and it is a testament to all the hard work, fundraising and sponsorship that the Newcastle Art Space committee and the management of Newcastle Community Arts Centre has been involved in over the past 14 years. It is such a privilege to work with all the generous and kind-hearted committee members of 2014, who go out of their way to keep this artist-run gallery in operation. There are many people to thank for this years NEAP2014, firstly the judges Anthony Bond OAM former Curator Art Gallery of NSW, Kerrie Coles Inaugural Newcastle Art Space Director and Artist and Professor Anne Graham Lecturer and Artist, to all the sponsors, especially the continued sponsors. Leslie Duffin, for finding all the Highly Commended sponsors for this year. Wendy Peacock from Newcastle Community Arts Centre for her continued support of NAS and for organising the staff for opening night so all of us, volunteers could have a night off, it is much appreciated. Most of all to all the artists who have participated in this prize, it is not any easy task to put your work up for judging and without you, we wouldnt have a prize in the first place.
