We use 1/8c (coffee scoop) for normal size loads and 1/4c for a large load. Our routine is to do a cold-rinse (no deter), then a hot/hot wash (maximum cycle length, maximum agitation), then a final cold-rinse. Hang to line dry. We do a load every day and a half or so. That way 1/3 of the dipes are avail for use, 1/3 are dirty or being laundered, 1/3 are hanging to dry. We have about 55 pre-fold and flat diapers.
