This is the Eastern Wahoo ..I like the name..I found out its name comes from a Creek Indian word..The Cherokee, and the Creek used this for reducing fevers. I was told that later the people that lived in the mountains figured out you could use it for treating head lice...Yep. If you crush the inner bark to a fine powder you can use it for head lice, and also scalp irritation, and dandruff. But only the inner bark. It is also good for chills, and weakness associated with fevers. You can make a tonic out of it. You can barely see the seeds because they are drying out ..but birds eat them, but they are poisonous to humans. So do not eat the seeds When they first bloom they look a little like bittersweet..
