This is the La Croix Theater, built during the Florida boom in the early 20s. It was the sister theater to the Van Croix; both owned by the Van Croix family. (She lived on US1 just north of the Brevard Hospital). About 1925, Eau Gallie really suffered with the Florida bust and then the depression. This theater closed and never reopened as one. In the 30s, it was the La Croix Restaurant. There is a postcard of that. I gave a copy to Rick, the owner of this business (Ricks consignment furniture) and he blew it up and its on his wall. Everyone should go in and check out the building. upstairs is the former balcony where theater seats were stacked against the wall as late as the 70s.
