This is the Thurs, Jan 22 edition of My Music Video of the Day. Todays music video is Take U There by Jack U. Once upon a time, there were these two producer/deejays. One is called Diplo and the other is Skrillex. They both work in a music genre called EDM or electronic dance music. More specifically, they produce music that is in the sub-genre called house, trap or dubstep. One day, they decided to combine their talents. This was the birth of Jack U. It is the stage name for the two performers again known as Skrillex and Diplo. For those that are keeping score at home, when you watch this music video, Skrillex is the dude with the long hair and dressed in black and Diplo is the one with the short hair and a white t-shirt with a bullseye on it. They decided to contact a third performer, a female singer/songwriter from Canada known as Kiesza. She would sing their song and they would handle the production side. Just as an aside, the EDM world is different than the rock n roll world. They dont play instruments as we know them. Instead they manipulate electronic sound equipment to produce their sound. Kiesza had a very successful music video called Hideaway in 2014. Diplo and Skrillex saw Kiesza singing earlier on a bill they all shared and they invited her to perform with them and sing this song. As to the video itself, it is a collection of live shots and animation shot in short sequences to create this kind of frantic vibe that goes hand-in-hand with the pace of the music. BTW, this particular song is played at a rapid pace of 140 beats per minute which is faster than your...oh, I dont know...your average polka. As to the lyrics, there isnt much but what there is...well, heres what the song opens with: You show me there is something more to us, than the same old thing, your usual affair, I will never dream of your love till you take me there, till you take me there, ooh babe. The chorus repeats the following over and over again, Youve got more love to give, ooh babe. Its the usual idea of love being a place that transcends our normal existence. You know how it is when youre in love, you think differently, your priorities are scrambled, youll do crazy, sometimes foolish things when youre in love. I think the majority of us would want to go there in a second, given the opportunity and thats what shes singing about. Well, to be honest, she is probably singing about doing the nasty or doing the horizontal bop rather than my more romantic notion.
