This is the closest I will get to a protest song. OBJECT TO BE DESTROYED was not just a piece of art to be destroyed by Man Ray. When I conceived this song it was right around the time of the first Gulf War with G H Bush and there was some serious talk that the draft might be instituted. In addition to Man Ray, I was thinking about Objecting to be Destroyed IE protesting the (possible draft). As such I have always thought of this chant as the ultimate F-You to authority, a statement that YES all people have a right to OBJECT TO BE DESTROYED. Thats all it is, a minimalist chant, but at least in my mind this statement applicable to any authoritarian force.
