This is the day that changed the world, whether you believe it or not. Chesterton said America was the only country ever founded on a creed, but Christianity is the only religion ever founded on the objective truth of a historical event. Either a man named Jesus of Nazareth was once certifiably dead and is now verifiably alive or not. Either God supernaturally intervened in history to raise him from the dead or he did not. Either the grave is empty or it is not. If the answer is not, then all claims made by Christians and Christianity on matters of truth, beliefs, and morals are irrelevant. Thus making Christians the worlds greatest fools in human history. But if the answer is it did happen, then that puts every other worldviews claims on matters of truth, beliefs, and morals at risk. This is why there cannot be or never has been Christ + something or something + Christ. This is why our church fathers werent martyred for worshipping Christ, they were martyred for worshipping Christ alone. Its either Christ is Lord or he is a liar, for his story offers no other option to the believer and unbeliever alike. This is why there has always been tension between Christ and the world, and there always be. This is why if you have never experienced that tension youre probably not a Christian. Today is a reminder that all of us we know, have ever known, and will ever know must make a choice. Did he or didnt he? And not choosing is choosing no. If that is your choice, understand if we are right you are banking your eternal soul on the matter. Those of us that have chosen yes dont have all the answers, but chose yes because we realize a God that would not spare even his His own Son on our behalf, and can bring the dead to life, is the One who does.
