This is the direct consequence of corporate environmental NGOs like NRDC, the Ocean Conservancy and League of Conservation Voters allowing a big oil lobbyist to oversee marine protection in California. When you greenwash the key role that the Western States Petroleum Association President played in creating so-called marine protected areas, all you do is empower Big Oil. I cant emphasize enough the long term consequences that empowering an oil industry official like NGOs and state officials did in the MLPA Initiative will have on environmental policy in California.
