This is the entrance to what was the Hall Aggregates pit in Holbury nr Southampton this is just round the corner from the Esso refinery as I understand they stopped working in the early 80s it then stood dormant for years until Hales Waste Control back filled it so it became known as Holbury II landfill it also operated on the site a household recycling centre until it closed somewhere around the mid to late 90s the road in the picture went straight ahead in to the distance but when Hales took over the closed this as new housing estate was built to the left which replaced the old caravan site Hales built a new haul road around the corner.
