This is the first horse we have kept for a longer period of time , kind of like our first rescue but we didnt have to buy her but did have to look after her . We will have other horses like this mare sometimes, ones that we have taken under our care and trained and found what kind of rider they are best suited for. One of the benefits ( or downfalls of having horses on our property,) we cant keep them all Last april my daughter pulled a large pony mare out of the feedlot to work with and then rehome. *******(she is still owned by the dealer)******** We knew there would be an issue of rehoming her when she was first ridden as she had an issue . (posted below) The mare is 14-14.1hh and she is a paint cross. 6-7yr old. She is wtc and has jumped. This mare is very sweet and an easy horse to handle and be around. She is not mareish. My daughter has ridden her in our sand ring ****BUT***** this horse does not like ring work. She does what is asked but she just does not like ring work, she will toss her head constantly. Field work or road work she is good. She is not spooky, crosses tarps, walks onto a table top and stands. Road safe, dog safe, easy to catch, walks through water and mud, ground ties. Is happy to lead or follow and will ride alone without issues. We thought the head tossing was due to teeth, her teeth have been floated. This has not changed her outlook on ring work. Some horses just need more scenery and she happens to be one of those horses (dont blame her) We feel she was pushed to hard in her training and this is her saying she is ring sour If she feels she is being trained she will toss her head. It seems flies also make her toss her head but not just limited to flies. She tosses her head at the walk all the time when ridden in the ring. She has been ridden in a parade, trail rides perfectly. Just took her out on a 4 hr ride last weekend and she was in the lead most of the way and NEVER spooked once. Never been on this trail before. Never tossed her head once. Can be ridden in just a halter and lead. Kachoo is ready to move onto her new home, will suit a confident advanced beginner rider NOT looking to do ring work. The better the rider the better the mare will be. My daughter and I have assessed this mare since April, we both knew as soon as we saw the head tossing issue that a new home would be hard to come by for her. We have figured out what she is best suited for and have ridden her a lot this past summer trying to get her past her head tossing. Her qualities far out weigh her issue, she is an amazing trail horse. $1200 which covers her price and teeth floating. Dealer owned.
