This is the first time I have heard the term "emotional intelligence". Upon hearing that term what comes to my mind as a definition or description of emotional intelligence is that it would be a quality that enables a person to deeply and sincerely empathize with others by having the patience to sit and listen with his/her heart and not just hear with their ears, having the "intuition" or "sense" to know when to speak or when not to and to know when or if a comforting touch or hug would be needed instead. In addition to that, emotional intelligence as applied to self would equate to a person being able to look inward, aware of their own emotional state and the reasons for it, being able to understand how they came to feel a certain way and having the ability to be in control of those emotions...Tracy Ramos Makuakane · University of Phoenix
