This is the first time Ive looked at MSU data Ive always preferred to use the RSS data because it is easier to access and work with. The only reason I have done this comparison is because I noticed the MSU has now included an Australian land component in its output. So lets put the MSU to the test and compare it to Berkeley Australian Land data. The first thing you will notice is the two show very different trends, which straight away should be ringing alarm bells there is no good reason why they should supposedly they are measuring the same thing albe it in different ways. If you look closely at the data you will see that both data sets are in reasonably close agreement up until the La-Nina event of 2010-2011. This event was the wettest and coolest 2 years since 1918 the MSU data almost completely fails to capture this event. bit.ly/1E7co5k
