This is the first time this kind of disqualification happened. No politician had ever been removed or disqualified from public office for overspending, despite every voter knowing this and that elected politician got into office by spending not just more than the limit allowed by law for poll expenses, but more than their own capacity to spend. Considering that ER Ejercity had been in office for two terms already, even surviving attempts by the previous Arroyo Administration to defeat or oust him, Chairman Sixto Brillantes deserves kudos for this brave move.
