This is the kind of junk I HATE in the Christian - TopicsExpress

This is the kind of junk I HATE in the Christian community... Ive included a response I recently posted to another persons page in regards to this video. Im not a theologian, but I also dont think you have to be to understand Scripture. Im not gonna pretend Im right in each of my arguments. I didnt have time, space or gumption to write fully about it - and you wouldnt read that anyway. At the same time, Im not trying to purposely mislead anyone and push my personal, political, and religious agenda... Jesus hated this heresy and we should as well... _______________________ While it IS interesting, I think its a matter of forced perspective - and quite heretical... Ill start by owning the fact that Im NOT a Bible scholar, but I do own plenty of books to help me break down Bible language in its original context and language, including those referenced in the video... The referenced verse, Luke 10:18 reads, He said to them, I watched Satan fall from heaven like a lightning flash. The important words referenced in the video include (with Strong reference attached): -- Satan (Strongs G4567) -- Heaven (Strongs G3772) -- Lighting (Strongs G796) The Luke verse is obviously written in the style of symbolism. It is stated that Satan is like a lightning flash. Obviously, that is not a literal statement. Lets take a look at the actual words used and their meanings... -- Satan (G4567) is the word Satanas. Although Satan is anti-Christ, this is the word used to describe the literal being of Satan, not the Anti-Christ. -- Heaven (G3772) is the word ouranus. It is typically used to describe the idea of the heavenly realm and not the physical place of heaven. Fun Fact - its where we get the planetary name Uranus. -- Lightning Flash (G796) is the word astrape. It is used frequently to mean gleaming, dazzling, shining, etc. In this context, it is symbolic of the divine majesty that WAS Satan. Fun Fact - its where we get the term astrology and star. The film references two Hebrew words that are not used in the Luke text - Strongs H1299/1300 and Strongs H1116. Ill combine Strongs H1299 and H1300 because they are essentially the same word and meaning. It is the word baraq. Baraq does mean lightening. In every verse I found it used, it was used as a term for literal lightening (a flash from the sky). Never was it used to reference dazzling, glittering, heavenly majesty. Strongs H1116 is the word bamah. Bamah does mean high place. It is used to describe a literal high place - typically a cultic platform. It is not used to describe heaven or the heavenly realm. We tread dangerous ground when we use lies, half truths, and especially the Bible to spread our own political agenda. What Jesus absolutely did preach against was the heretics, hypocrites, and liars in the Church that abused their power to mislead the people...
