This is the last summer that I can force my youngest child, Daniel - TopicsExpress

This is the last summer that I can force my youngest child, Daniel Augustus, Gus Majors, into taking a trip. He will start his senior year on Monday and he will be 18 in December, so I took advantage of my status this week. We took off to see an old friend, Jim Bradley of Knoxvilles Bradleys Station fame, and stayed the night at his hideout on Clinch Mountain, Grainger County, TN. We opened the bee hive he started for me last fall, but since I got cancer and a transplant, we havent moved it to the Rue La Dae, a paradise on a North Slope on the South Side of Mt. Juliet. We picked about a gallon and half of blueberries, had Blueberry Pancakes with honey for breakfast and those same pancakes later as Peanut Butter sandwiches. We went and paid our respects in Washburn @ the old homestead and the Acuff Cemetery where my Father, Grandparents and most of the seven Aunts and Uncles, on the Majors side, are resting. We drove the back way to the Smokys and Gus caught the only trout. We went by the Sinks and Gus had to jump in for the third time in his history. Tuesday was my six months anniversary with my new liver, I have been feeling stronger since my last hospital stay and yes, yesterday, I probably did push it bit. I didnt jump in the Sinks but we did make it to the top of Tennessee. Clingmans Dome. I hope we do it again next year or soon thereafter. I am a little sore today but it was the first time I have left the Rue La Dae, a paradise on a North Slope on the South Side of Mt. Juliet, since they found the cancer last October. You only live once and we Majors know how it should be done!
