This is the last thing left of Hooven & Allison Rope factory in Xenia. Mom worked in the office for many, many years. Growing up, we lived just a few streets from the factory. With no air-conditioning, we slept with the windows open. You could hear the machines running 24 hours a day but especially on a summer night when the city was quiet. All the buildings are torn down now and the smoke stack is the last thing standing. Wish I was at Home so I could see it one last time. No doubt I would be in tears thinking about another Xenia landmark gone forever. There is a movie on You tube about Hooven & Allison and how they made rope and twine. Take the time to watch the different episodes and remember the good ole days of Xenia, Ohio - The City of Hospitality. :-(
