This is the latest email from my friend, Bill at the NC State Port in Morehead City re: glass recycling: Craig, Sorry for the delayed response. I have been on vacation. I believe the NC glass manufactures purchase recycle glass from the recycle groups around the state. When I have visited the manufacturing sites, there are usually large piles of broken glass that is fed into the furnace along with their usual raw materials. The ‘cullet’, recycle glass, adds to the mix and is good for the environment. The glass manufactures do not do any business with the Ports on an ongoing basis. We have in the past handled some raw material for a specific project, years ago. The pricing for our term customers is confidential information. Rest assured that we are paid for the use of the land at both of our ports. The pricing for our land and building is primarily based on what the market conditions, as it is difficult to equate our land, improved and on the water, to industrial land at inland areas. Hope this helps.. William G. Fox Director Breakbulk and Bulk North Carolina State Ports Authority 910-343-6387 (office) 910-512-4794 (mobile)
