This is the lie that everyone has come to believe - that God wants you to be rich and that you are on this earth to become rich. Jesus talks of the dangers of being rich and how good it is for someone to be content with what little he has. We are not to desire riches. Unfortunately, pursuing riches is the false doctrine that so many preachers are teaching people today. This is what Paul had to say in regard to this matter in 1 Timothy 6:6 "But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People WHO WANT TO GET RICH fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." And Jesus Christ said it like this in Mathew 19:24 "Again I tell you, (note the warning from Him when He uses the words again I tell you) it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into heaven." Riches are not usually a blessing but mostly a curse because they destroy people. It is not sinful to make a lot of money but it is sinful to want riches - pursuing and lusting for bigger cars, better clothes, bigger houses.
