This is the most interesting case of the week (and the week is not over)...dog presented with a swelling on left side of neck, painful and not eating...owner was concerned that rib bones that were fed could be lodged in the esophagus...x-Rays showed a linear foreign body on the left side of the neck...under anesthesia, we were able to see the tip of the foreign body in the back of the throat...foreign boys was surgically removed from the side of the neck...it was a 6 long stick about the diameter of a pencil...fortunately, the dog is doing well today...
