This is the only home in Champaign that we have a photograph of which we know Abraham Lincoln stayed over night and on other occasions dined with the owners, his friends and fellow founders of the Republican Party in Illinois the Baddeleys. A Baddeley brother has his name on the corner stone of United Methodist Church but he lived on the 200 block of W Vine. His home still stands. He had a dept. store downtown. It was later purchased by the Kuhns who lived there a number of years (this photo shows the Kuhns in the yard). Later they sold the home to the Masons who took it down to build the Masonic Temple - now The Lodge - corner of Hill and Randolph.
