This is the reply we got about Done Deal Please let me know what you think? I am not afraid to approach any of these big companies to get my point across. ALL Animal rescue groups need to get behind one another on this, not just a few. Thanks for contacting us and Im sorry to hear your not happy with our service. We have put a huge amount of work into not only our Dog policy, but our animal welfare work over the past number of years: blog.donedeal.ie/topics/animal-welfare/ We work with the ISPCAs and Dogs Trust to help promote responsible pet ownership, as well as working with the authorities to trace, block and prosecute any puppy farms we have any suspicions about. We believe that unless the law should change, us removing the option to advertise your pets for new home would only move the sellers to less monitored and policed options, that dont work with the authorities or have strict policies in place. We feel that we would be better to continue to work with the rescue centers we already work with and as many others as possible so that if we all pull together we would achieve far more. That all sounds lovely but as far as Im aware ISPCA and Dogs Trust Ireland do not support you in the selling of animals online. They have been working with you to try and make you stop. To imply that you allow advertising animals for sale for some altruistic reason is, frankly, insulting. Nor do I believe your argument that not selling dogs on your site would increase the problem of puppy farms, animal cruelty, over supply of dogs, etc. Without online sites they would not be able to offload so many dogs onto the unsuspecting public and therefore it would not be as financially viable. I will continue in my view and active stance, to raise awareness and hopefully see a change in legislation. Sorry to say Im not happy with it. I take a cynical view of the assurances of profit-making businesses and their ability to adequately self-regulate. Its disheartening to me to find that you do actually support DoneDeal 4 hours ago · Unlike · 1 Margaret Sneyd If they cant monitor the ads they should not but them up. I certainly could not condone a pet being torn to shreds for sport! 4 hours ago · Unlike · 1 Geraldine Haskins
