This is the route Im looking at to beat high cable prices. Basically it amounts to streaming local tv, some Internet programming, and installing Free to Air Satellite. The first little trick is to install an antenna and hook it up to a Silicon Dust media streamer. That will give the the ability to watch local tv on my pc via a network and to stream local tv to an app on an Android box. The benefit of that is the fact that I can use better antennas that make more local channels available with better picture quality. The next phase will be to install Free To Air Satellite. To be honest, Im satisfied without cable, but its nice to have something to watch now and then. We cant get religious programming locally anymore without cable or streaming it. Id just rather get it off of satellite. It seems there are two reasons people are reluctant to give up cable. Men like their sports and widows like noise in the house. Thats about all keeping cable alive anymore. They want an arm and a leg for a lot of programming that most people dont want to watch anyway. I used to watch only a few channels when I had cable. I wouldnt pay a hundred bucks a month or more for it as some people are doing and as some people might have to do after they have to start renting cable boxes. :o)
