This is the straight out summary of my two rounds on the weekend. - TopicsExpress

This is the straight out summary of my two rounds on the weekend. Saturday is first with 90 strokes v Sundays 83 strokes, then 38 putts v 31, 9 Fairways v 12, for 6 GIR v 5 and 29 points v 35. In a very simplified summary the putting was the difference obviously the short chipping around the green was also rubbish on Saturday as well. The drive back home from Kingston on Saturday was not a comfortable one, the continued discomfort from the shoulder injury fed my thoughts. It was all negative at the worst case scenario, my season was shot and it was about less practise and less golf. Still go for the single digit handicap but all planned club trophy challenges and regional open events were gone. At best maintain a lessened practise routine as started last week and see if there is improvement. Sunday morning the shoulder was good after the nights rest and the heat treatment. Still not comfortable mentally. I pulled out a lighter putter and went out and had a 30 ball warm up on the range with #6 iron and PW. It was now obvious the shoulder was fine for playing off the tee and fairway shots. The delicate 10 metre or less chips and putting strokes were the problem. The change in putter and a slight chip shot set up change, less thinking and more hit the ball, worked well enough. Finishing second of course soothed all the angst from the Saturday round. Not ignorant of the ebbs and flows of golf results, so the meltdown on the Saturday was totally unexpected. Otherwise it would not have hit home so hard, it was almost like having a putt watching the ball roll to the hole and then have a player walk up and hit it back to me. No matter how hard I tried to putt the ball there was no strength in the shots. Everything compounded from that. Where as on the following day the feel was all back and the putts much better. Seven strokes less and yes still had 4 putts stop 2 cm or less from going in the hole. Today it is three days of not practising, analysing the injury and not getting p!ssed off. There were more good results than the one problem area at the end of the weekend with the golf played. On top of which at the end of the month I have gone from an 11 handicap to a 10.2. Hit the ball, find the ball, hit the ball. Thankyou for your time and attention.
