This is the third of three videos showing the fine sanding and polishing of a specimen of agatized bryozoa from Morocco. In this video we see the completed polished specimen. The hard felt wheel is sold by Diamond Pacific. The optical grade cerium oxide powder is sold by Covington Lapidary Equipment Company. The sanding wheels are by Rayspan, the sanding belts by Crystalite. The machine in use is a Diamond Pacific Titan which is an 8 machine. I am using 6 wheels on it to maximize working space. I previously used a Diamond Pacific Genie which is a 6 cabbing machine. It is a fine machine but like all 6 machines is tight on room to work since the wheels need to be closely spaced. As you can see I am very willing to try different approaches and equipment used in Lapidary. This combination give the best results at the lowest cost. The stone was polished as a specimen and preserves the natural rough exterior on the reverse side. Later I will be making some cabochons from this material and polishing other display specimens. The techniques I use in polishing this specimen are the same as I use when face polishing Lake Superior Agates. Video by Denise Harrison
