This is the third year the Hobbs Chamber awarded a deserving member with the honor of Business of the Year. Recipients demonstrate a commitment to the Hobbs Chamber’s watchwords: commerce, community and character. The 2014 Business of the Year is Sadler & Son Monument Works. Accepting the award for Sadler & Son was David Sadler. Sadler & Son Monument Works got its start in an extra bedroom in the home of David and Cindy Sadler. David says the business expanded into the living room and then finally into a home next door on Bender, which is the current location of the monument business. There, the Sadlers remodeled the home to feel warm and comforting for its customers, who are often families in time of sorrow. David said that every year since its founding, the business has grown. Now 27 years in business, Sadler & Son Monument Works has an office in Roswell, and the company’s products are in showrooms throughout the Permian Basin. The business has a dozen full-time employees and four part-time employees. Despite a busy work schedule, David has been heavily involved in community activities, and has held leadership positions in organizations like the Lea County Center for the Arts and the Rotary Club of Hobbs. Sadler & Son Monument Works, we congratulate you and thank you for exemplifying our motto of “Promoting Commerce. Promoting Community. Promoting Character.”
