This is the way my world works: Took a friend to the Nats game last night. Group of guys sitting next to us discussing basketball. One guy says, I think it was Leon Rice at Boise State. Definitely wasnt King Rice. I perk up, lean over and say, King Rice? I used to photograph King Rice when he was playing high school basketball in Binghamton, NY in 1987. My friend Len says, I was at UVa when King Rice was playing at UNC. I remember that guy. Those were my four years. One of the other guys says, Did you go to Binghamton? I went to Oswego. Yes, I say, but I used to shoot King Rice when I was working at the Binghamton Press. The other guy says, Oh, thats a Gannett paper. Gary over here works for USA Today. I say, I worked for USA Today for ten years. Is that Gary Strauss? And as the Nats begin to collapse, Gary and I begin to reminisce.
