This is the weekly update email regarding the Hayling Billy Trail - TopicsExpress

This is the weekly update email regarding the Hayling Billy Trail project either end of Langstone Bridge. This is week ten of the 15 weeks allocated to the project overall - planned opening date to public use remains the 17th April. We have almost completed the line of Trief kerbs, edgings and concrete mounting strip forming the retaining wall required to hold up the wider path opposite the Hayling Island Service Station, with the last section being laid this week. The temporary pedestrian crossing point opposite the exit of the Service Station remains in use as required during working hours. We have removed the old footway surface, starting at the Bridge and as far south as the pedestrian crossing point, and have levelled and compacted the underlying stone in preparation for final surfacing once the kerbing is complete. We have a small number of damaged kerbs to replace and a few service cover levels to adjust before the surfacing is carried out (photo attached). Over the next week we plan to complete the remaining length of Trief kerbs and edgings and to remove the rest of the existing path surfacing. Once SSE, the County Councils street lighting partner, has moved two street lights on Monday 17th (under night time working starting at 2200), we will surface the footway (planned for Thursday and Friday next week). We will also be starting work at the north end of the Bridge, initially setting up the compound (alongside the entrance to the Langstone Sailing Club), removing railings in preparation for path widening, and installing drainage. The HBC website is regularly updated with progress reports. The web page is at havant.gov.uk/hayling-billy-trail/hayling-billy-trail-phase-4 and includes a question and answer section. Please dont hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions or observations.
