This is the worst case of 2-4-D damage on tomatoes that I have - TopicsExpress

This is the worst case of 2-4-D damage on tomatoes that I have ever seen. Tomatoes are VERY sensitive to pasture and right-of-way herbicides such as 2-4-D. This damage was most likely due to volatilization and not drift. The calm, windless environmental conditions (i.e greenhouses) that might minimize drift, ironically, only increase the potential for volatilization. Never store herbicides in the greenhouse and if at all possible never use 2-4-D on your land if you are growing tomatoes (or peppers or eggplants). Unfortunately these plants will not recover from this damage. To learn about 2-4D regulations in Louisiana go to: ldaf.state.la.us/ldaf-programs/pesticide-environmental-programs/herbicides/ To learn about non-2-4D alternatives for pastures go to: https://lsuagcenter/NR/rdonlyres/72B28120-7869-4413-A196-3463C54715FA/67054/ForagesandWeedControl.pdf To learn more about herbicide drift or volatilization damage go to saveourcrops.org/non-target-damage/.
