This is very interesting. Scotland on Sunday recently reported that Scotland would be treated differently when it came to EU membership. Interestingly, they cite an unnamed source to support this. Remember last time when they talked of a currency union and again quoted an unnamed source? Do you see a pattern evolving here? Everytime their backs are against the wall they pull out an unnamed source to try and spin the story to their favor; it almost seems too convenient. The fact that nobody from the EC has officially come out and supported the nationalists assertions on EU membership, bar maybe one or two independent experts, should speak volumes about how the nationalists are attempting to spin the argument. Common sense therefore must prevail on the issue, we are only citizens because of our UK membership: Fact. Therefore, becoming a separate country breaks that bond to the EU: another fact.Viviane Reding stated as much to the SNP just recently and yet they still see no irony in the fact that independence would remove us from the EU ! EU membership is not an autonomous citizenship: it is tied to the country through which you are a citizen: again, another fact. If that SOVEREIGN country is not in the EU under current membership rules then you give up that citizenship by proxy. The nationalists have completely lost the EU argument as much as they have lost the currency argument but they still continue with the narrative that everyone would just welcome us with open arms. Scotland is not a special case and nor are we pivotal to European progress: we would join the rest of the queue and as much as nationalist find it really difficult to accept that, they must now acknowledge it. This recent spin based on an unnamed source, and also based on the ECs refusal to acknowledge it tells us all we need to know about the nationalists. Either they are spreading blatant lies or they know something we dont. Clearly, there is not much reason to believe the latter. bbc/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-28390740
