This is very interesting and disturbing. I looked up the TAS statistics, the latest available are from 2013, and they are pretty bad, especially for cats. In 2013, they took in 6925 cats, mostly strays and owner surrenders. They killed 2910 of them, that is 42% of them. The majority killed were sick - 844, next is owner surrenders, 689 of them, why? The cats were also killed for behaviour - 512, being feral - 228, old age - 192, orphaned kittens - 213, injured - 229, and only 3 for rabies testing. Taking a cat to TAS is a bad idea. At least they did adopt out 3004, only slightly more than they killed. Only 312 were returned to owner, and 570 transferred to partners. 20 went missing - how do you lose 20 cats? TAS a long ways to go, and trying to hide these practices will not help. If what happened at the Recovery Center is as described, it is reprehensible.
